Bertie was born and raised in Huntington, Long Island. Her     experience with watercolors evolved through her training at  Manhattan's F.I.T. and her years of study at The Art League of Long Island. At the Art League, she trained in various mediums with watercolor becoming her passion.
Today she teaches watercolor painting across L.I., through the Art League of Long Island and the Montauk Artists' Association. During the height of each season Bertie teaches six week courses around the blooms of the gardens at Oyster Bay's Planting Fields Arboretum. She also has the privilege of instructing Seniors at “St. Johnland Nursing Center” and  “Smithtown Nursing Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care” weekly/biweekly throughout the year.
Bertie's artwork has been exhibited in numerous Museums, Fine Art Galleries, and juried indoor/outdoor shows along Northeast America.  Recently she completed a series of Manhattan based Paintings for a New York Bank's corporate and branch offices, including their signature painting of “Park Avenue”.  Her portfolio consists of vibrant florals, popular Long Island scenes, children's murals, still life's, and outdoor garden views. “Scenic,” “detailed,” and “colorful” are adjectives often used to describe her work.  Bertie attributes her success and her gift of painting to the glory of God.
